As the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate in Afghanistan, there are alarming disruptions in education, health, and nutrition services, a disastrous food crisis, drought, outbreaks of measles, polio, and other preventable diseases, as well as the crippling onset of winter. OAAW’s response will help ensure the continual support of essential services by preventing the collapse of critical systems for millions while also safeguarding hard-won gains.

Afghanistan’s education system has been devastated by more than three decades of sustained conflict. For many of the country’s children, completing primary school remains a distant dream – especially in rural areas and for girls – despite recent progress in raising enrolment.

In the poorest and remote areas of the country, enrolment levels vary extensively, and girls still lack equal access.

Your generous contribution will help increase equitable coverage of lifesaving health and emergency services, education, and critical resources for women, men, and children.

Our Mission

It is estimated that 70 percent of 10-year-olds in low- and middle-income countries are unable to read and understand a simple story. Helping children feel prepared and empowered to learn is a big part of OAAW’s mission in education.

“We see you; we hear you; we’re staying here with you.”
